what if you woke up one day
and found out everything was a joke
your emotions never existed
and your soul was a cloud of smoke

what if you went walking one afternoon
and realized everything was a lie
your feelings were never felt
and your mind always hides

what if you sat alone one holiday
and remembered it was too late for things to be patched
your mistakes were irreversible
and you would never have a match

what if you were sitting one evening
and tried to forget about everything
you made yourself bleed
and couldn't feel anything

what if you went to bed one night
and considered death
your body put in the ground
and your one last given breath

but inside,
if you have these thoughts,
are you dead, or are you alive?

1. A teen is speaking.
2. It's an American poem written recently in Indiana.
3. The tone would be upset, wondering if life's real or not and if the mistakes she's made have effected her life completely and can never be reversed or forgotten.
4. The mood would be upset because she talks about whether her mistakes are reversible or not. Also, she considers dying in her bed at night, so that would make it more depressed.
5. I like the overall poem just because it's pretty deep. It talks about life, death, and not being able to control the past.
6. I can connect to the part about making mistakes because I've definately made my share of mistakes and I often wonder if I'm ever going to be able to get away from my past and forget about the bad decisions.
7. I think she wrote this poem in order to get her complete thoughts on paper. It's a really good poem and has so much emotion.
8. I guess its to other teenagers..?
